      The electricity is the most convenient and safe energy form in modern life so that the electrical energy demand is gradually expanding as the industry is developing. Therefore, direct generation of electricity from solar energy is of great interest because it is clean, renewable, abundant, and sustainable. However the power generation cost of solar cells is still more expensive than conventional fossil fuel so that it seems to be limited to find widespread applications of solar cells. Accordingly, significant effort should be focused on developing cost-effective innovative solar cells to make break-through by enhancing power conversion efficiency and reducing processing cost. Recently the innovative solar cells satisfying such criteria of low cost and high efficiency were reported because the perovskite hybrid solar cells can be fabricated at low temperature solution process and their efficiency is gradually approaching crystalline Si solar cells. The innovative perovskite hybrid solar cells can be roughly classified to mesoscopic, planar, and meso-superstructured solar cells. Currently the efficiency of mesoscopic and planar perovskite hybrid solar cells reaches over 20 %. Here I would like to introduce the research progress of innovative perovskite hybrid solar cells in my group.
